How to Record Your Pickleball Game

Recording a game for PB Vision doesn't require a complicated camera setup. A phone, stable mount, and a clear view of the court are all you need to get started. Follow these steps to record a game that's ready to upload and analyze with PB Vision.

  • Use a phone or camera mounted securely behind the court

  • Record in landscape orientation

  • Position the camera at least 5 feet high

  • Make sure the entire court and all four corners are visible

  • Use a wide enough lens to keep all players and court lines in frame

  • For phones, 1080p at 30 fps is a great starting point

  • Record one game at a time and keep the camera stationary throughout play

🎒 What You'll Need

You don't need professional camera equipment to record for PB Vision. For most players, all you need is:

  • A smartphone

  • The PB Vision mobile app or your phone's camera app

  • A tripod or secure fence mount

  • Enough space behind the court to keep the full court in frame

Note

Your phone's rear camera will typically provide the best video quality. Use the widest lens or zoom level needed to keep the entire court visible, commonly around 0.5x on many phones.

Already have a tripod? Any stable mount that securely holds your phone at least 5 feet high can work well.


📐 Set Up Your Camera

Place your camera behind one end of the court, centered as closely as possible with the court.

Before you start recording:

  • Mount the camera at least 5 feet high

  • Record in landscape orientation

  • Make sure all four corners of the court are visible

  • Keep the net, court lines, and all players in frame

  • Make sure the camera is level and stable

  • Start recording before play begins

Important

Proper framing significantly improves the accuracy of your PB Vision analysis.

If the full court isn't visible or players frequently leave the frame, PB Vision may have difficulty processing or accurately analyzing the game.

▶️ Record Your Game

For the easiest setup, record directly through the PB Vision app. The app helps you align the court before recording and automatically uses the optimal recording settings for PB Vision analysis.

Once you're ready:

  • Open the PB Vision app and start a new recording

  • Follow the on-screen guide to align the court

  • Start recording before the game begins

  • Leave the camera stationary and record the entire game

  • Stop recording after the game ends

Important

Leave the recording running between points. Don't stop and restart the recording or edit out the time between rallies.


🏓 Recording Tips

  • Ask before recording. Make sure everyone playing is comfortable being recorded.

  • Keep the camera stationary. Avoid moving or adjusting it during the game.

  • Check your framing when changing courts. Even a similar court may require a different camera position.

  • Record one game at a time. This makes your video easier to upload and analyze.


⬆️ Upload Your Game

After recording, the PB Vision app to upload your game automatically for analysis.

If you recorded using your phone's camera or another device:

  • Open the PB Vision app or the PB Vision website

  • Select Upload Video

  • Choose your recorded game

  • Follow the prompts to begin processing

Once processing is complete, your video, stats, ratings, and insights will be available in PB Vision.
